Have you tried running it in compatibility mode?  Right-click -> Properties -> Compatibility, select Windows XP and try again.

Failing that SimCity 4 work pretty good. :-)

    Hi Hellmeat,

I know your post is rather old, but I just saw it today and tried your suggestion to download a patch. But when i click on your link for that patch, nothing happens. Could you send me the name of the link, please?

Guys- use virtualization. That patch idea seems quite complicated and sketchy compared to simply using a virtual machine. Download VMware and use the tutorial to set up a virtualization of Windows XP or ME with enough resources to do what you want. Once you have it set up simply run the virtual machine and install SimCity 2000/3000 on it. Simple as that.

Maybe its an old post but if you still got the game try this:

1: go to the properties of SC3000.

2: go to target and type at the end.

    3: -intro:off

It works for me, i think Windows 7 got problems with displaying the intro.

Ok, i looked all over for the answer to 'How to play Sim City 3000' on Windows 7, i tried a few till i tried this, hope this helps :)

Insert disk - copy and paste CD Contents to 'new folder' on desktop (this is what i did).

    Then download this PATCH

Then copy and paste these 2 files ^ to same folder (should be 'Baapp' and 'SC3U').

Then close all windows except this 'new folder' and simply click 'Launcher'

This worked for me first time so hopefully will work for you guys

    Good luck :)
