I have a microphone that saved my recordings in WAV file format on Windows XP. Now that I have upgraded to Windows 7,it will only allow me to save my recordings in WMA file format, which I cannot use. How can I get Windows 7 to save my recordings in WAV file format?

Save yourself the hassle of using W7 and download Audacity. Its a full blown free audio editor so you can record in wav format, edit/enhance the recording then transform it into whatever other format you may wish.

    Hi,

In Windows7 Windows Media Audio (WMA) file is the only format that’s supported to save the recorded sound. This feature is by design in Windows 7.

However you can convert WMA to WAV using third-party program. Use your favorite search engine for more information.

restricting people to a drm specific propitiatory format and not giving them a choice is not a feature.
