NO sound when Recording Audio - problems with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

I have been having problems for around a year now with NO sound when Recording Audio with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I just came across this forum today. It's really weird how the recording with both windows sounds recorder and others has been working perfectly since 1998 or so UNTIL upgrading to win 7. Now each time I try to record it either brings up no recording device found or just fails to record any sound whatsoever. As you'll see below I have enabled  What U Hear so I can use the system sounds recording functions.

I use the sound recording and pdf reader functions because I am legally blind. This is one of the few tools I have been able to use with ease on all my windows systems for many years.

A similar issue started to occur with nvidia graphics cards. AND... I was lead to believe it was an issue with Sony wanting stronger anti piracy measures inbuilt into windows. Am I right in assuming this is what is happening with the sound also now days or is there a solution to this very frustrating problem?

I ran a dxdiag & posted what I believe you requested of another user on the forum, with the same or similar problem.

Help resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated as this has been an issue for quite a while now.

    Hi

    Thanks again for your reply

The make & model of the sound card are Creative, Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro

I went through the troubleshooter which only dealt with microphone or external input.

Unfortunately it doesn't cover what I am trying to do. That is record what sound you hear, you know record the audio playing on the computer.

    Hi,

What is the make and model of the new sound card?

I would suggest you to try these methods and check.

    Method 1:

    Open the Recording Audio troubleshooter.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-the-Recording-Audio-troubleshooter

    Method 2:

Uninstall and reinstall latest available audio drivers from the manufacturers website.

    Hi

    Thanks for your reply

There is no make or model of the machine it is a custom system from our local computer supplier.

Just to clarify I get no recorded sound when Recording Audio with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit BUT every other OS I have had has worked.

These are both still the case after getting a new sound card which has the ability to record what you hear when enabled.
