windows update 800706bf error

I have tried everything to get windows update to work.  I am getting an 800706bf error.  I have run virus scans, mr. fix it and no help any other suggestions?

    TRY THIS method

     download  & install  SYSTEM UPDATE READINESS TOOL FOR  WINDOWS 7  BASED OS 

    FROM BELOW LINK

     FOR X86 BASED

     http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=3132

    FOR  X64 BASED

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=1540

    please conform below option

    click RUN  , type  SERVICES.MSC  then  enter

    on the  right side ,  scroll  to  WINDOWS UPDATE , right click by mouse ,  click  PROPERTIES and  then make  it    AUTOMATIC (DEAYED   START )   then  OK

    then reboot  your  ssytem  

    i hope this tool will  clear your update problems .

    I have this problem, and if we could do the things that you suggest then we would not be asking for help. Do you honestly think that we have not tried this? Everything that you suggest DOES NOT WORK!

    So i tried the windows update standalone installer and both said it was not compatible with my 64 bit machine.  Then I tried it again and got remote procedure call failed installer encountered an error 0x800706be

    How much fun can you have?  Thanks for all your help i really appreciate everyone's time!

    I tried the following as you suggested and same issues. Code 800706BF is the error happens instantly.
