My laptop is frozen, at boot up getting error "the last attempt to resume the system from its previous location has failed. attempt to resume again?"

hi when i turned on my laptop today it said this :

"the last attempt to resume the system from its previous location has failed. attempt to resume again? continue with system resume delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu"

 my screen is frozen, i cant access anything other than this menu, when i type f 8 or f12 i get nothing same with control alt delete. please help :D

    It is saying that it was on hibernate but it has failed in its attempt to resume the system using the hibernation file it saved [the contents of the system memory at the time it was hibernated].

    You have no choice but to accept what it is trying to do. It has to be told to start the system fully as it cannot use what it has saved in order for it to take any shortcuts to resuming [or you could try forcing it off using the power button then rebooting to have another attempt but this is unlikely to have a different result].

    There is little reason to suppose that any problem will remain when it completes its resume. I've had this a few times in the past but all has been well after it has started up fully.

    Perhaps you didn't switch off yesterday and it eventually ran out of battery power & went into hibernation in accordance with the settings in the active power plan.
