You would need to View HP help site to see if there is any bios setting that allows the PC to Power on at a specific time, or HP forums.

Personally I would think that if the Laptop was shutdown, there would be no Bios setting. Its a different matter if the Laptop is set to sleep.

Hi,

I would suggest you to contact HP for assistance with BIOS.

**Note:**Modifying BIOS/ complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.

If your PC is shutdown, unless there is an option in the bios to power on at a certain time, it wont. If your Laptop is in sleep mode it should wake up depending what settings you have chosen in windows update.

You could of course simply set windows update to download & notify (at a suitable time) then install any updates at a time suitable to you.

NB If you have a PC from a major maker, particularly a Laptop, you should'nt be automatically installing Recommended updates, and certainly not driver updates.
