    Hi,

    1)    Which game are you trying to play?

    2)    What is the exact/complete error message you receive when you launch the game?

    3)    Which version of DirectX is on your computer?

You may refer the following article to check the version of DirectX installed on the computer.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Which-version-of-DirectX-is-on-your-computer

Run ‘Windows Update’ to install latest DirectX available.

DX 10 and DX10.1 are not different Direct X installations.

DX10.1 is an incremental update of Direct3D 10.0.  It first came out with Vista sp1.

The list in my earlier post shows all the d3dx  files available. Once a clean install of Win7 has

been updated via the Direct X Web Installer it will have all the available DX files.

It make no difference if the gpu is Nvidia or ATI/AMD.

The only relationship between gpu and Direct X has to do with older cards that only support

DX 9 ( XP era cards), which are followed by cards that support DX9 and DX 10 (Vista era cards), which are followed by more recent (Win7 era) cards that  support DX 9, 10 and 11.
