The first time I connected my Samsung Galaxy S3 to my WIN 7 Pro PC I was able to see my device and move files from my PC to the device. Now when I connect via USB I only hear a tone from my S3 and nothing from the PC. The S3 shows that it is charging. The S3 doesn't show up in My Computer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello. I appreciate everyone trying to help, but I'm getting rather redundant advice. I am not just trying to find out how to transfer media to my device via Kies Air or other software methods. All I am trying to do is to get my PC to respond when I connect my Samsung Galaxy S3 via USB. It worked the first time I tried it and now the PC does not respond. I do not need advice on how to connect with Bluetooth or with Kies Air. I simply want to be able to see my S3 in "My Computer" - just like any other USB connected mass storage device.  Thanks again.

OK. I solved this one.  Apparently the only USB cable recognized by the computer is the original Samsung USB cable that came with the phone!  I plugged it in and everything shows up!  I thought all usb cables were generic, but apparently not for this phone!

I tried several things and then thought let me remove the battery!  Once that was done all went back to normal!

Thanks for the reply Rohit. Here are answers to your questions:

    1. No Windows pop-up messages - actually nothing happens at all on the PC when I plug in the USB from the S3.
    2. It worked fine last week - when I first got the phone.  The only software I had installed was Samsung's Kies program. I have since uninstalled it - but still can't connect the S3 via USB.
    3. USB connection.
    4. No hardware changes - see answer 2 for software.

There is no MTP entry in device manager.

I have gone through the links above, but they do not help as the S3 does not show up anywhere as a connected device. The only thing that happens when I connect the S3 is that the S3 beeps and begins charging via USB. I have tried multiple USB ports with the same results.

    Hi,

    1.       Do you get any Windows pop up message?

    2.       When was the last time it was working fine?

    3.       How do you connect the device with the computer? Is it a wired or a wireless connection?

    4.       Have you made any recent software or hardware changes on the computer?

I would suggest you to check if the device is listed under Device manager or if any yellow exclamation mark is shown.

    Open Device Manager

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-Device-Manager

You may check under MTP devices.

I would also suggest you to go through the steps mentioned in the link and check.

Sync music, pictures, contacts, and calendars with a mobile device

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Sync-music-pictures-contacts-and-calendars-with-a-mobile-device

You may also go through the device manual for further details.

Hope this helps and keep us posted.
