Somehow many of my folders in My Pictures contain items with jpg.rem extensions and I cannot open them.  I don't know how this happened but how can I undo it?

Windows 7

Also Using Windows Live photo gallery and Microsoft Office 10

Thanks.

Yes, I already did a search and see that it has something to do with blackberry encryption, but I don't have a Bberry.  I'm mystified!

Thanks for trying.  Can you try again?

    :)

Sorry, my husband just informed me that he downloaded pictures from HIS Bberry!

    It sounds very suspicious,

What security suite do you have installed,

Have you downloaded any new software,

What photo editor/ viewer do you use,

A few very good and free scanners are here you can try,

FYI, free scanners need to be manually updated before running full scans,

And only use one at a time and try not to use your computer during the scans,

    http://www.superantispyware.com/?tag=SUPERANTISPYWARE

    http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

The last one usually takes four hours to complete.

Lets run these and I have one more thing to try after.
