Resolution mismatch message

My monitor broke and I got an Emerson LED TV (22inch) to use as a monitor.  I get this message: "Resolution mismatch. Change devise's resolution" on starup.  The message goes away and the monitor works and looks fine, except the whole screen is not being used.  Do I need to change the device's resolution? AND how do I do that?  I went into the Display properties on Control Panel but couldn't change resolution past 1280 by 1024.  Any information would be appreciated.

Might be worth a try to update your video driver.

If your computer is a desktop...go to the support

website of your video adapter's mfg. and search

for video drivers compatible with your version of

    Windows..

(If you have a laptop...search the support site

of your Computer's manufacturer for updated

    drivers)

If you don't know the make and model of

    your video adapter...check the documentation

    that came with the computer.

    Also...to find the info...go to...Start / Run and

type or copy / paste     dxdiag      Press Enter.

See the Display tab for info on your Video

    Adapter and Driver.

If the driver on the support website is more

current than the one you are running...

download it and install it. Also you should find

and follow the installation instructions at the

    support site.

(FWIW...it's always a good idea to create a System

Restore point before installing software or updates)

The TV itself will support 1366 x 768 for maximum resolution (specs I found just using what you stated). The question then becomes whether or not your graphics care can handle that resolution. Chances are your video can't support it.

    Hope this helps.
