2014-02-11T16:17:37+00:00 Since the link does not work anymore. See fix below.
Here are some simple steps to get your drive to work with Vista or W7.
- When you install the drive you will get the message that your drive needs to find drivers. Just hit Cancel
- Go to start –> Control Panel –> System –> Device Manager
- When the Device Manager opens you will see a listing for X1DE-USB with a Yellow triangle next to it under Other Devices. On that line item right mouse click and then select Update Driver software and left mouse click
- Now select Browse my computer for driver software
- Now select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer and click on Next
- Now you will get a box to select your device type from list, click on “Show All Devices” and click on Next
- In the following window, for the box on the left select NEC Systems, and then on the right select NEC USB Floppy then click on Next
8 ) You will be told by Windows that “Installing this device driver is not recommended…..” its ok just click on Yes to continue.
- Lastly you will be told that Windows has successfully updated your driver software.
Now if you look at the Device Manager you will see the listing for Floppy disk drive – Citizen X1DE.
Finally if you look in the My Computer icon, you will see the A: drive listed for your floppy drive
With that you now have a working Floppy USB drive.

2016-10-01T15:49:42+00:00 Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
Both with and without the FDD attached

2016-09-29T14:31:26+00:00 That may be so, but the FDD is not recognized by Windows 10, You can't install by hand from a .sys file, only if a working .inf flie exists. usbstor.inf used to work, but doesn't anymore.
If you can tell me how to install my floppy drive by hand from the sfloppy.sys file I'll be very grateful and I will retract my remark about Microsofts arrogance.
Thank you for your comment.

2016-09-29T10:24:53+00:00 Microsoft just has removed the Floppydisk driver from Windows 10. In it's arrogance it thiks FDD's shouldn't be used anymore. The NEC FDD-driver was located in USBStor.inf in W7, but has disappeared
