Absolutely.  I'd speculate that you have a program in your Startup folder that runs every time you turn on your computer.  This program probably created that log file and placed it there because that's the folder the program is in.  So every time you turn on your computer, that log file is opening.

    It's 100% safe to delete.

To keep the problem from happening again, I'd ask:  do you indeed have a program in your Startup folder that is running every time you turn on your computer?  if so, move that program somewhere else, then put a shortcut to it in the Startup folder instead.  Then any log file will be created somewhere else, away from the Startup folder.

Thanks Shawn. You suggested checking whether I have other programs installed in the same directory. I checked and there are 3 files. 1 is the debug file - 2 is Facebook Messenger shortcut and 3 is OneNote 2010 Screen Clipper and Launcher shortcut - there is nothing else.

    Thanks

    Joshua

Note: Once you are done with clean boot, please follow step 7 in the article to put your computer back to normal startup.

    Hope this helps!

After some searching I found the directory if this helps you to answer it.

    C:\Users\ASUS\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\debug.txt

Is it okay to delete or will it cause problems if I delete it. (It is empty just to clarify)

    Thanks,

    Josh
