Arc Touch mouse randomly turns off while still "arc'd" even when I'm in the middle of something

I have had this Arc Touch mouse since they first came out, and every day since then my mouse will turn itself off with no warning or error, and the blue laser under it will also turn off, in the middle of me using it. Sometimes it happens every 30 minutes, other times it will last hours before doing this. And I know for a fact it is not the batteries doing this. Is this a feature I don't know about, or is this mouse faulty. Also, can I fix it - I don't want to just go buy a new mouse.

I have this problem with Windows 7, and Windows 8 previews, and I have tried different computers, different usb ports, etc.

I havent tried it on XP or Vista, but I doubt it would suddenly work on those operating systems

If this scenario sounds like the mouse is faulty, can I be directed to where I may send it in for a replacement?

Thanks for any help

    Hi,

    Step 1:

You may try downloading the latest driver from manufacturer's website for the mouse and install the same to check if it works:

    Reference links:

Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isnt-working-properly

    Step 2:

If the above fails then try the following.

It seems to be a hardware issue. You may want to contact Microsoft hardware support for assistance.

You may refer the following link and check:

I've just purchased the MS arc touch mouse, and having some of the similar issues as well.

The mouse seems to turn off automatically in a very short time of inactivity.

Turning the mouse back on is a little quirky.. sometimes a mouse movement would do it, other times I would need to actually press a mouse button, or flatten (turning off) and curve the mouse, or even unplug & plug the wireless receiver.

I was wondering if there is a way to extend the time before the mouse turns off, and/or increase the sensitivity on the mouse to decrease the turning back on time.

Haven't had any problem with the mouse turning off in the middle of usage, but then again I haven't been using it that extensively yet (just started yesterday).

Yes I was referring to Microsoft Arc Touch mouse, and the green light functions correctly.

I tried method 1 which hasn't fixed the problem, and method 2 doesn't apply to this mouse.

I don't believe I have proof of purchase so I don't think I can get a replacement mouse, also it was 6 months ago when I got it.

To fix this issue all I need to do us un-arc the mouse and then re-arc the mouse and the blue laser will come back and the mouse will work fine, but then every so often it will suddenly shut off again, in the middle of me using the mouse. Even with fresh batteries, and even in different PCs, or USB ports.

I am curious if anyone else has this issue, and if a new Arc Touch mouse would keep doing it.

Is there a known compatibility issue with Alps pointing device laptop trackpad driver?

    Hi,

When you say "Arc Touch mouse ' are you referring to Microsft Arc Touch mouse ?

    Note:

The mouse flashes a green light to show the battery is working, and then turns off to save battery life automatically.

    Try these methods and check:

    Method 1:

You may try the steps from the following link and check if it works:
