Does anyone know if/which USB to Serial Cable drivers are compatible with Windows 7 Profesional SP1.

I have worked with Tripp Lite Model U209-000-R and Prolific PL2303, I can work for a few minutes with this cable, then I get the classic blue screen and I restart my laptop, I have a HP Laptop ProoBook  4420s, with OS Win7 Professiona SP1,   can you helpme, and recommend a USB to serial adapter that I did not cause this problem.

I'm afraid not all usb to serial (or parrallel) adapters are equal. Some function others do not.

I have no recommendation (as I dont need to use such)

Its relatively straight forward with a desktop PC, you just buy the relevent pci card.

You would need to search using your favorite search engine for user recommendeations (or seek advice from a decent PC shop)

Had the same issue with this adapter "Tripp Lite u209-000-r".  Windows wouldn't load any driver by default... and the latest driver right from the vendor tripp lite (some kind of prolific driver) don't seem to work... "error, unable to start device"

However... I noticed that it works on Windows 8.1 like a champ.   So I checked what version of driver win 8.1 is using.

    3.3.7.139 from 11/16/2009

    The file is called ser2attr64.sys

I found the package available for download here:  www.driverscape.com/files/share/e654202344f4c20f831784ab8241f2f7.zip   and it works perfectly

Hello, I have solved my problem, the solution is to use a terminal emulator like Teraterm or Xshel, I used the emulator putty and it was what I was experiencing the problem, nowadays I use a branded adapter manhatan and works correctly with the emulators of terminals previously.

    Regards.

    Hi,

Microsoft don’t have any  USB to Serial Cable drivers software There is Third Parties Browser companion software search in your favorite search engine for the software.

Note: Using Third Party Software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of Third Party Software can be solved. Using Third Party Software is at your own risk.
