I am running windows xp on a netbook , no cd rom drive.
recently it started acting up , found out a virus called "facebookmessengerexe.exe" had ruined it and it wouldnt boot it would just boot over and over and when i try anything it stalls.
so i want to system restore it , i have to do this thru safe mode command prompt, but when i input %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstui.exe it says this:
'C:\WINDOWS\system32\restore\rstui.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file
Any Suggestions????

Hi,
Thank you for your response.
1. Did you try all the steps mentioned in the post above?
I would suggest you to restart the computer and keep tapping F8Key from the advanced boot options Choose Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure and hit enter.
make and model is : acer aspire one netbook
i cant insert disc as its a netbook theres no cd rom
when it turns on it shows avg has found a virus then the whole netbook stalls, or it just keeps restarting over and over
Hi,
1. What is the make and model of the computer?
2. What exactly happens when you insert a disc?
3. Are you getting any error message?
I would suggest you to try the steps provided below and check if it helps.
**Method 1:**You may try to perform system restore from system tools in safe mode.

Note: While the computer is in safe mode, System Restore does not create any restore points. Therefore, you cannot undo a restoration that you performed when the computer was in safe mode.
**Method 2:**How to fix a computer that won't start.

**Method 3:**Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
