The Latitude D820 uses an Intel Core Duo processor.  This is 32-bit only.

Note that the suggestions from Zakir and Mr ML will ONLY show you whether you have a 32-bit version of Windows installed.  The suggested methods will NOT tell you whether or not your computer is capable of having a 64-bit operating system installed.  As indicated above, it is not.

I believe that it is capable of supporting a 64-bit operating system, but Dell only has drivers for Vista.

    See, e.g., http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19297901

For home users, the main advantage to using a 64-bit operating system is the ability to address more than 4 GB RAM.  You can install up to 8 GB RAM in a Dell 630.  See http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/Dell/latitude-d630

most likely yours is a 32 bit Operating System.

Yes, but if I'm not mistaken he was asking about the hardware, not the
    version of Windows.
