OK.  The Charms are the things that come up when you swipe from the right of your trackpad/screen.  You can get to the basic charm bar by pressing Windows-C.

I'm not sure how to set Military time.  I'll look it up and get back if I can find anything.  Windows 8 does have the Taskbar clock, but no metro clock that always shows.  You can see the time by pulling up the basic charms (it has the time in a large black box in the lower left-hand corner of the screen).

You can find a hidden start menu when you put your cursor in the lower left-hand corner of the screen, and you can see which apps are open by putting your cursor in the upper left-hand corner of the screen and pulling down along the edge of the screen.  You can get the charms by putting your cursor in either right-hand corner and pulling up/down along the edge.

The reason MS is changing it is many people have expressed a desire to have their phone, tablet, and desktop all able to run the same thing.  This is a first version, and a major update is being beta tested at MS now and is expected to be released this fall.  You can give feedback for Windows 8 apps by going to the Settings charm and clicking Feedback.  I hope this helps you.  Write back if you need more help.

    Update:

To set military time, search Region from the Control Panel.  Open the Region box and set the Short time and the Long time to the capital H format, e.g. H:MM and H:MM:ss.  Select the ones with two H's if you want to see the zero before the single-digit hours e.g. 08:xx instead of 8:xx.

Go to the Change PC Settings tab in the Settings charm.  Go to the General tab and set your time zone there.  You can also do this by right-clicking the clock on the Taskbar and selecting Adjust Date/Time.  Change your time zone there.

RaeZehel: You should have started your own forum about the Weather app, but when did you start having a problem?  The weather app, along with Travel and Maps, are apparently down right now.  You can change your Home page by going to the Places page (right-click somewhere on the screen to get the menu to get there) and change your home page there.  You could also uninstall and reinstall it.  This should only take about a minute and might fix any corrupted files.

Hi, new to W8 here and finding it absolutely maddening. I set my time as military time, which it shows as having been saved as such but will not display as such. I can't say I trust a company who makes it so difficult to simply set the time. It also has my location randomly set in Weather as being Madison, New Jersey and elsewhere as St. Louis, Missouri, neither of which are remotely close to me and with no option to fix. Little help?
