Check the battery!

I have had it for a few years and haven't had any problems. Suddenly today I got an Error 43 and it says that the driver malfunctioned and isn't detected. It works fine in my husband's laptop. I've tried most of the suggestions I can find online. Any advice?

Mine stopped working about an hour ago. Since my sister has the same MS Wireless Mouse 3000, I tried it on my computer and it works perfect. However when I try my mouse on her computer it doesn't work; even though the lights come on on both the dongle and mouse.
I too tried the suggested solution to no avail. I'm very experienced in computers and trouble shooting, but this one has me stumped. I've sifted through the update logs and that didn't shed any light on the sudden not working mouse either. Device Manager recognized my Bluetooth dongle and mouse on all four of my USB ports, but still no workie even after removal and re-install of it all.
Hope MS can shed some light on this, but I have a suspicion that this one is going to get chalked up as instantaneous catastrophic failure...kind of like what happens the day after the warranty is up, only this one lasted a lot longer than it's warranty.
Oh well off to the store to get something without a cord, the one I'm using to make this post is tying me down!

Thank-you Tom, but I have already done this. The only thing I see listed under mouse and other pointing devices is: Alps Pointing Device (2-way) for 14 inch wide LCD. There is nothing else I see to try to delete/de-install. I did try to install the driver and it said that I had already installed this.
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/d/wireless-mobile-mouse-3000 7. Reboot. 8. Plug mouse back in. 9. Allow it to be detected and drivers installed. 10. Check for proper operation.
