    Hi,

Did you get any error message that system file checker tool wasn’t able to repair files?

If you use acronis to transfer Windows from one drive to the other, this is the most likely reason for the problem. I would suggest you to backup system files and reinstall Windows normally. Follow these steps:

“Back up your programs, system settings, and files”

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Back-up-your-programs-system-settings-and-files

    “Back up your files”

    “Installing and reinstalling Windows 7”

    Hi,

Filter manager is a file system filter driver that is offered from Microsoft which simplifies the creation of third party filter drivers. A filter driver developed to the Filter Manager model is called a minifilter. Each minifilter has an attribute associated with it which determines whether minifilter is loaded relative to other in the Input/Output stack. You restart computer in clean boot to disable third party applications and check if the issue occurs. Follow “step 1” in the link to enable to clean boot:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Follow step 7 from the article to “Reset the computer to start as usual”, after performing the clean boot troubleshooting.

Hi, as in my previous reply I got this note on the cmd console after I ran the sfc,

"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them"

Before I got your reply I already started a re-install of my windows vista home premium,  the only way I could do this was to do an Acer factory reset which installs windows vista as I never was sent a copy of my vista, I reset it and installed vista again through this method, then I put all the windows updates on and sp1 and sp2, after all the major installs I looked at the event log again and the warnings for the filter manager were still there, a waste of a lot of hours, now there are other warnings but they come and go, one question the computer seems to be running alright, should I just forget the warnings as I'm getting no pop-up errors, one more thing, since I have done a complete reset and re-installing my browsers ie7 to ie8, also Google chrome so how was Google chrome able to auto-fill  a page out for me? thanks for all the trouble you've gone to.

sorry for not getting back earlier, the computer in question, I recently using Acronis upgraded the hard drive from 120gb to 320gb, it was after that I noticed this, some error came up and made me look at the event log, the computer doesn't get used much I'm doing it up for my young daughter, I've just turned it on and looked at the event log, It has 8 warning in the last hour 6 from the filter manager, 1 from Time Service and 1 from MatSvc which I think is something to do with Microsoft's Mr Fix It, which I had installed to try and find a solution, but had to re-install that as it wouldn't work, the only restore points were made after the HDD upgrade, I'm getting no error messages now just the warnings in the event log, thanks for replying to my query.

    Hi,

    ·         When do you get this error message?

    ·         Does it happen when you use particular program or application?

    ·         Have you made any recent changes to the computer prior to this issue?

Reply with above information to help you better.

You may perform system restore to undo the changes on system, when everything was working fine. Follow the steps in the link:
