Xboxstat.exe is taking 50% of my cpu constantly. Why?

I am running Windows 7 64 bit.

On boot Xboxstat.exe starts and causes 50% cpu load constantly.  I have to kill it.  Why is it causing such high load? It is running from the correct folder and Microsoft Security Essentials does not identify it as a threat, so I do not believe it is a virus/malware.

Xboxstat.exe is listed in your startup item list as

    Microsoft Xbox 360 controller accessory

Hold the windows key and R

    Type msconfig

    Click the start up tab

Look for Microsoft Xbox 360 controller accessory

Uncheck the box, restart your computer

xboxstat.exe. should not appear the next time you start.

Hope this helps nice contoller, my son lent it to my wife for Skyrim.

The program is signed by Microsoft Corporation. So, I thought that is what I was doing by posting here.

    Hi,

Do you have Microsoft Xbox 360 wireless controller connected to your computer?

This answer was not any help.

I do have some more information about the problem.

The Logitech F710 controller uses the XBOX 360 Controller for Windows driver.  There is not an updated driver for this device.

I am on a dual core AMD processor.  When the Logitech  F710 controller is connected, Xboxstat.exe starts and  uses 100% of 1 core resulting in the 50% CPU load.  When the controller shuts off from non use, Xboxstat.exe stops.

The controller itself functions as expected but the high CPU load caused by Xboxstat.exe is causing un-needed load on my system and degrading game performance.  I am trying to find out what about Xboxstat.exe causes it to use one entire CPU core when a controller using the XBOX 360 driver is connected and in use. This seems excessive as the controller continues to function properly without Xboxstat.exe running.

It is a Logitech Wireless F710, but it emulates and is detected by the system as a 360 controller.
