Hi.

I was having a problem starting the WLAN service on my Vista machine. I found this thread: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows\_vista-networking/windows-could-not-start-error-1068-the-dependency/7963d72a-5d73-44fe-8316-058c46235737

and followed the steps posted by Sharrow (10 more people found it helpful than the other response) to edit the registry using regedt32. Specifically:
Step 1: Click START button

Step 2: In the Search area, type "regedt32" (of course don't include the ""), right click on the search result and "Run as Administrator".

Step 3: Click on "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE", should expand out to a list of stuff

Step 4: Next choose "SYSTEM", should expand again

Step 5: Choose "CurrentControlSet", expands again

Step 6: Choose "Services", expands to a super large list of stuff

Step 7: Click on "Dhcp", the right window will show the files in that folder

Step 8: Double click on "DependOnService"

Step 9: Delete all the words in text area, except "Afd", and click OK. You are done here

Step 10: Next under "Services", look for "EapHost", this should be a few folders below Dhcp Step 11: Same thing, double click on the file "DependOnService"

Step 12: Delete everything in the text are and click OK. You are done.
Since the restart, I have not been able to access the OS whatsoever, much less fix the wireless card. I've tried to run from the "last known good configuration", tried to run in Safe Mode, tried to run the option to Repair, and nothing has been working. I've been able to get to the logon screen and enter my password, but before my desktop loads, a blue screen appears and I start over. I've tried running a boot disk that had a registry editor and putting the values I took out (as far as I could remember) back into the registry, but that didn't work either. I'm downloading Windows PE now but Please help!

Thanks in advance....

Use the backup that you made of the registry before you started editing it.

If you didn't make a backup, then try System Restore to go back to a point before you made the changes.

Beyond that, try creating a new account (?Maybe in Safe Mode?) to see if that one will be stable enough to use.

Okay, now I can log onto other user's accounts but not the one I was using when I made the changes. However, once inside Vista on Guest account, the computer freezes.
