    Hi,

Here are the few questions to understand the issue better:

    1.      When do you receive the error message?

    2.      Do you receive the error while using any application?

    3.      Have you made any changes to the computer prior to the issue?

This file is part of Microsoft® Windows® Operating System. Conhost.exe is developed by Microsoft Corporation. It’s a system and hidden file. Conhost.exe is usually located in the %SYSTEM% folder and its usual size is 270,848 bytes.

Let us try the following methods and see if that helps:

**Method 1:**Place the computer in clean boot and see if that helps.

A clean boot helps to verify if any third party application service or startup item is causing this issue.

    Refer:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After you have finished diagnosing, follow step 7 in the article to boot to normal startup.

    **Method 2:**Run SFC Scan.

System File Checker (SFC) scan will replace corrupt or missing system files on your computer.

    Refer:

Use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

**Method 3:**I would suggest you to perform a full system scan, because sometimes viruses spoof themselves as system files.

Here is a link that will give you information on how to perform a full system scan:

    http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note 1: The Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To rerun a scan with the latest anti-malware definitions, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Note 2: Any data files that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

If the above methods do not help, or, if you have any further questions, please reply to assist you further.
