I cannot get Works9 update KB2754670 to complete. I have downloaded the update to my desktop and run from there. I have a message saying the netork resource unavailable or enter an alternative path containing this installation package Works9.msi in the box below, which allows browsing to find such. The box is prefilled with C:\AcerSW\SE\MSWorks\ Can any one help please?.

Thanks. I usually try right click on other things. I have done this. As I only use Works about once a month I can disconnect from the internet whilst using it. It only for about 2 minutes.

I have seen other comments about MS and can I can sympathise. A little while ago a major update rearranged my network access which I still have not resolved but is easy to work around. Thanks again.

I have run both and each has reported no problems. I am not really into this level of understanding of what is going on. However, to me it appears that it is not finding the right place for Works9 to perform the update. I do have Works9 which I believe was preinstalled. I have no disc. I don't use it much and could possible un-install it but would this make the update go away?

I have an OEM disc of Works8.5 which I could load instead but again would I get rid of the update. My other alternative as I use it very little is to un-install and find a free 3rd party spread sheet to use. I have Wordpad of course and so can use this for the few letters I write.

    Thanks for your help.

If you cannot install after the 'clean boot' or running the 'fixits', or even manually, then try the following:

    1. Try installing it by signing in as 'Admin' rather than just your usual user.
    2. SFC/scannow - and see if it finds anything wrong.
    3. Malwarebytes scan for malware - download, install, update (by right-clicking its icon, and 'run as admin' then go to its update tab_ and run a full scan with free malwarebytes.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried a cleanboot, although i had to restore the Windows Update as this is what the patch uses. It still fails. However I noted that the other users had an error message 646. I do not get this. When I respond to the first message by clicking OK, I end up in a loop. If I cancel I get error message 1706 No valid source could be found for MSWorks. Any further help please?
