hi,

i have HP Pavilion dv6-2138ca Entertainment Notebook PC and Windows 7 Home Premium copyright 2009 microsoft corporation.

(In) PS/2 Compatible Mouse Properties ,

General(tab) ,

Device Type Mice And Other Pointing Devices , Manufacturer ,  Microsoft , Location , Plugged Into Mouse Port ,

Driver(tab) ,

Driver Provider Microsoft ,  Driver Date 21/06/2006 , Driver version 6.1.7600.16385 ,  Digital Signer Microsoft Windows .

(When I) Update Driver Software PS/2 Compatibe Mouse , (It Says ),

Windows Encountered A Problem Installing The Driver Software For Your Device ,

Windows Found Driver Software For Your Device But Encountered An Error While Attempting To Install It .

(image for mouse icon)  Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad..

This Operation Returned Because Time Out Period Expired.

If You Know The Manufacture Of Your Device , You Can Visits Its Website And Check The Support Section for Driver Software.

    Hi,

    What is the make and model of the mouse?

    This problem may occur if file is corrupted.

    To resolve this problem contact the manufacturer about the availability of an update for the driver.

    Step 1:

    a. Click on Start, click on Control Panel and then click onDevice Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    b. In Device Manager, locate the device under Mice and other pointing devices, and then double-click thedevice name.

    c. Click the Driver tab, and then click uninstall Driver.

    Note:

    Do the same for keyboard drivers locate keyboard drivers in device manager then perform step C.

    Step 2:

    Now visit the manufacturer's website download the latest driver for the device and install it.
