Where is the "Computer" button?

I'm looking for the equivalent of the "My Computer" or "Computer" button or link that was found in earlier Windows versions.  I have found that the optical drives on my system fail to show up in the listing of resources on the "Library" pane, so I can't use the computer's software to eject/open the optical disk drives to insert optical disks.  I'm back to having to manually pushing buttons on those drives, which seems to be a step back to very early versions of Windows.  Once a disk has been successfully read by Win 8, the drive appears in the list of hardware resources on the "Library" pane.  "Disk Manager" offers no solutions to this issue.

I'm looking for the equivalent of the "My Computer" or "Computer" button or link that was found in earlier Windows versions.

Press Win-E  or  use the  Explorer  Taskbar  icon.

Not quite sure what your asking or trying to get at here.  If you mean on the left side of an explorer window, Computer does show up there.  Just have to expand it.  Yes it does have optical drives listed there and yes it does have the option to right click and eject media.

If you just mean how to get to Computer there are 2 ways.

First right click on the Start Menu and select All Apps.  There scroll right and find Computer listed.  There right click and Pin to Start or Pin to taskbar or both.

Next click on desktop, click on the file explorer icon.  There on the left side, the computer listed or just click the computer listing and get all drives and options.

    Hi,

One more tip...If you right click on your Desktop and select PERSONALIZE, you will see Change Desktop Icons on the upper left of the window.

This will let you add a Computer shortcut to your desktop, along with several others.

Once this shortcut is there, you can right click on it and get Device Manager, and numerous other links if you select Properties.

    Just like Win 7 basically.
