KB2729094 Update not applying?

Hello,

It shows in my Windows Update history that KB2729094 was completed successfully. However I'm unsure if it's working correctly on my system, since the Emoji symbols that should be visible, aren't.

For instance, the table on the wikipedia article webpage aren't showing the emoji symbols except for the "Miscellaneous Symbols" from row U+260x to U+266x.

I'm running Windows 7 on a Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU processor.

    Joseph,

If an update is listed in Update History (i.e., as a successfully-installed update) but the update is not listed in View installed updates, it's not installed - so Automatic Updates will keep attempting to install it until you step in and do something about it.

    Thanks for the response Jose.

Ah, that's the problem (and may be the case with other updates).

So how do I got about getting it installed now?

Thanks for your help so far.

Turns out the update DID install. Found it in the installed update pages after using search for it. Opps.

But the issue still remains, not being able to view emoji symbols that I supposedly should be seeing.

I uninstalled the update, restarted the computer, installed the update through Windows Update, and restarted the computer again. But issue remains the same.

Checking the Widows Update log, it shows in the final lines that it was installed.

I tried doing a search through my OS drive, but it couldn't find the KB2729094.log file.

    Joseph.

    • Do a manual visit to Windows Update withInternet Explorer 32 bit.

[ Start > Windows Update or open IE, click Tools, Windows Update ]

When the installations fail, close IE.

Now go to Start > Run > type in

    %windir%\windowsupdate.log

    Click OK or press Enter

Pləase post the last 40 or so lines of the WindowsUpdate.log

Scroll down towards the bottom for the latest entries to locate the ərror code(s) associated with the latest failed attempt to download/install.

Start at the bottom and work your way up to a section that shows an ERROR, WARNING, or FATAL.

If appropriate copy and paste thelast 40 linəas, the ərror codes into this thrəad sosomeone may be able to assist you.

On the other hand, you may be able to find the ərror code and other suggestions by searching the forum.****

    • Also check windows folder for file called KB******.log (****** = number of update IE KB896688) and post the contents of the failed update.

This may provide further clues as to why the update failed.
