I have a Gateway DX4300-03 and I have just upgraded to Windows 8 Pro and bought the windows Media Center feature.  But, the  tv tuner does not seem to be working since the install.  Driver worked fine for Windows 7, but not working for Windows 8.  Any clue on how to get this to work.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that the TV tuner is not working in Windows 8.

    1.      Are you using External/Internet TV tuner?

    2.      What is the make and model of the TV tuner?

    Please follow the methods.

    Method 1:

You can try using the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter to fix the problem. It checks for common problems and makes sure that any new device or hardware connected to your PC is installed correctly.

Open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by swiping in from the right edge of the screen, tapping Search (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking Search), entering hardware and devices in the search box, tapping or clicking Settings, and then tapping or clicking Find and fix problems with devices.

You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.

    Method 2:

    a)      Download the TV turner driver from the manufacturer’s website.

    b)      Right-click on the driver and click on properties.

    c)      Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select Windows 7 operating system from the drop down.

    d)      Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

I haven't had any response, but the TV tuner looks to be installed correctly.  When media player comes up and I go into the tv and live tv setup or find tv channels it will hang for a while and eventually come up with tuner not found the tv cannot be configured because a tv tuner cannot be detected...  If I uninstall it will just bring up the error right away if it is installed it will hang for about 2 or 3 minutes like its processing something and then come up with the error.

    Thanks for the reply.

    1.  It's an internal TV tuner

    2.  I'm not sure the make and the model exactly which is probably part of my issue.  But, it is from a DX4300-03.  When I look under properties for the driver it only says YUAN TV DRIVER.  The driver is under sound, video, and game controller and is listed as Hybrid ATSC/QAM PCI-E AVS Video Capture (SoftEncoder).  The driver looks to be installed correctly and doesn't have the  usual yellow signal next to it as if it is not installed.  I went to gateway and the newest drivers were from 7/2010.

So far I have, Scanned for hardware change, updated driver software, and uninstalled it and reinstalled from windows.old and from the gateway website itself.  I checked a website for Yuan drivers and all I saw was mainly Asus drivers and didn't see any gateway ones.  I'm thinking if there is a newer driver it may help, but don't really know which driver to look up.
