How to convert DVDs to mp4 using Windows

How do you convert DVDs to mp4 using windows media player or something like that? I want to convert to mp4 for my iPod Touch. If possible, I don't want to download any programs like handbrake etc. that other websites have suggested. It is a DVD I already own. Once it is converted, how do you put it onto iTunes?

Hi,

There is no option in Windows Media Player to convert a file format to MP4 file format as MP4 file format is not supported by Windows Media Player. The only option available is to use non Microsoft program to convert a file format to MP4 file format.     Ipod is Apple.

    Windows is Microsoft.

    They are rivals.

    Do you think Microsoft will be so kind to convert a DVD so that it can be played on a rival product ?

    I do not think so.

    you still need a DVD Ripper to do that.

    I've been to the website you suggested and it said to to convert a music cd to mp3 use windows media player. I've got an mp4 and am now totally confused?
