I have a Pantech UML290 4G USB modem and it won't install on Windows 8. Is there a patch for this or an expected driver update?

I had tried many times to get a solution to this problem with the earlier preview versions of Windows 8, with many calls to Verizon, e-mails to Pantech, and messages and reports to Microsoft. They never were able to resolve it, or just didn't want to.
I changed to the MiFi device, which is much more stable and allows me to connect 10 devices.
Hi Folks,
I too was looking for the solution for this modem. It's quite simple, provided you have the VZW Access manager disk that came with the device. Simply install Access Manager from the disk, then plug in the modem - that's all it took for me - was prompted to download new version of Access Manager on first connect.
After installing the new Access Manager it prompted me to install a required Firmware update for the modem as well.
So you had to order a whole new device correct? If that's the case, I'm not really willing to do that just yet. I appreciate the answer and I'll keep that in mind, but I want to see if they will actually fix it now that Windows 8 is officially out. Thanks though! Out of curiosity though, which one did you get?
I've looked on there and even emailed Pantech without response. Didn't help, sorry, but thanks.
