When I start my computer and get the Windows time system to check the time.windows.com. I either get an error message or the incorrect time! it will be three hours off!

some web sites say they will not allow me to log in.

I can change the time to the correct time but I get this error message when i try to use the internet to update my time!

An error occurred while windows was synchronizing with time.nist.gov.

This operation returned because the timeout period expired.

I can then retry it and it will say it was done correctly but end up three hours off every time!

please note windows is set to my zone.

please help with this issue!

    Hi,

Were there any recent changes made in the computer prior to the issue?

    Follow the methods.

Method 1: Run network troubleshooters and check if that helps.

‘Using the Network troubleshooter in Windows 7’http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Using-the-Network-troubleshooter-in-Windows-7

Method 2: Check if the Windows Time Service is started.

    1. Click on start and then type Services.msc and press enter.
    2. Locate the Windows Time Service.
    3. Check if the Service is started or not. If not, then right click on it and click on start.
    4. Once done, check if you are able to synchronize the system time with the Internet time Server.

Method 3: If you’re not able to update the time and you still receive an error, then try the following steps to stop and start the time update application.

    1. Click on Start; in the start search type cmd.
    2. Right click on Cmd.exe and choose Run as administrator.
    3. Type the following command. After typing each command press enter.

    net stop w32timew32tm.exe /unregisterw32tm.exe /registernet start w32time

Hope this information is helpful and let me know if this worked.

Go to Control Panel > Date and Time

    1. Ensure that the TIMEZONE is set correctly
    2. Go to the the Internet Time tab and try one of the other time servers..

I have followed all three of your steps.

    the sync error still happens!

no network issues detected with the auto detect.

windows services was set to automatic.

I followed everything in method three and was successful in all steps.

then attempted to sync to server got the error message tried three more times it said it synced correctly but was 3 hrs off every time.

    yes,

I have recently installed the factory copy of windows with a full wipe of the hard drive and then down loaded the massive amount of updates.

such things like .NET services and windows server 8! I thought this was odd since this is a copy of windows 7 home premium.

any help in getting this fixed would be great since some web sites like nico nico will not allow me to log in due to the error in time.

    Lets see where to start!

after I re-install windows 7 to factory settings.

this odd thing happens when I do the windows update it one downloads a whole new server windows. odd number one but my main issue I have the clock set to pacific time zone. When it updates it off by three hours!

When I check the process:  services.msc then scroll down to windows time! I see

under properties use this account is checked. I unchecked thinking it was the issue.

now i get error messages and a blank account

    the error looks like this

Windows could not start the Windows Time Service on local computer.

Error 1079: the account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running in the same process.

When I check the local box also under properties and the allow to interact with the desktop button I get the same above error message.

This is should be a stand alone computer NOT apart of a network of any sort and I SHOULD have full admin rights to this private computer.

Help resolve this issues Microsoft please.
