Original Title: problem with webcam

Hey

I bought Acer aspire one aod255 a year ago and changed the op.system to windows 7 (i didn't like windows 7 starter). I now have the problem with the webcam ( Acer crystal webcam, it did work before). I can't open it- it says that "camera not found", if i try to install webcam from acer support website, it says that to plug in the webcam. But it does work sometimes (with skype) i just can't open it and use it. I used website testwebcam.com and there i could see myself

I don't know what to do

    Hi,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community!

I’m sorry to know that you are facing issue with the webcam. However, I’m glad to provide you with these methods which will help you to fix the issue.

**Method 1:**Let us start with running the hardware troubleshooter and check. Follow the article mentioned below for more information:

Open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter

If there are no Windows 7 drivers available, I'd suggest you installing the Vista driver in Compatibility mode.

Follow the steps below to install this software in Windows VISTA SP1 Compatibility mode:

    a.       Right click on the setup file.

    b.      Go to properties.

    c.       Click on Compatibility mode.

    d.      Place a check mark the box in the box in front of “Run this program in compatibility mode for” and from the drop down menu choose Windows Vista SP1.

    e.      Place a check mark on "Run as an Administrator" under privileges level and click on apply and then Ok.

    f.        Now double click on the setup file to initiate the install.

You may also check the make of the camera in the device manager and download the drivers from the webcam manufacturer's website directly.

You can find more information about compatibility modes in the articles below:
