Hi,

1.      What exactly happen when you try playing the flac file?

2.      Do you get any error message?

Flac file is not supported by Windows media player, refer this link to know more about file types supported by Windows media player:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/C00D1199

Try installing the codec’s that support the file and check if it helps, here is the link:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Codecs-frequently-asked-questions

You can also try converting the file into mp3 format and check, use your favorite search engine and download audio converter and check if it helps.

As for me the best way to play .flac in WMP is to install k-lite codec pack( with the Media Player Classic). It contains all codecs u need, including the flac. audio codec. After installing this program you will be able to play *.flac files and many other audio/video formats.

BTW. its huge advantage you don't need to install some doubtful software on your PC.

http://codecguide.com/download_kl.htm - here you can find all of the available "k-lite" codecs.

    It will surely help you!

I doubt a restart is necessary. Most programs that demand a restart do so unnecessarily - they've either hardcoded a superfluous restart dialog, or are too lazy to code a decent installation.

Thank you for this solution .. only if it could be without restart (as usual for all MS operating systems :-/) however .. it works and that is important :)

Ignore the negative responses here. Media Player is extensible via installable codecs and other plugins, and has been for many versions.

To get FLAC working for playback and tag-support in Windows Media Player, simply follow the instructions here: http://www.codeemporium.com/2009/11/26/convincing-flac-files-to-play-in-windows-media-player-12/
