Hi
I have just installed windows 8, and the touch screen on my PC does not seem to be working at all. As far as am aware the screen on the acer aspire Z5771 is multi-touch and compatible with W8. I can not seem to find a solution to this online or using the help on my PC.
Separately I have also installed the windows media center add on to find that my remote control no longer works with this feature.
I would greatly appreciate any help on these matters

Please see the page by clicking the link below. Acer now admits the issue and working for a solution.
I think Microsoft should hold their hands up and take responsibilty for this.
I ran the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant, and it reported that the touchscreen would be able to be used in Windows 8.
Here is the exact extract from the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant Report
The touchscreen on this PC wasn't designed for Windows 8You can use this touchscreen with Windows 8 but it won't be as responsive and gestures won't be as precise as a touchscreen designed for Windows 8.
More infoIf you have touch input hardware that isn't specifically designed for Windows 8, but is compliant with Windows 7 certification, you will experience touch responsiveness at least as good as it was on Windows 7. Because Windows 8 touch requires a higher degree of responsiveness and precision, Windows 8-certified touch PCs provide a much better experience typing on the on-screen keyboard and using certain controls than on Windows 7 certified PCs. For example, touchscreens that support fewer than five simultaneous touch points cannot enable certain Windows 8 features and applications.
Fortunately I read these forums first to discover other owners have had issues, but if I had upgraded and lost touchscreen capabilities after being promised I "can use this touchscreen with Windows 8" I would be very unhappy. As it is, I am dissapointed, as one of the reason I bought this machine was so that I could use Windows 8 with it. Seems pointless spending £14.99 for the upgrade at the moment.
Also other Acer Z5771 have said owners have said that the touchscreen worked with Windows 8 Release Preview. So clearly Microsoft have updated their code to stop it working in this RTM version
If I find a workaround, I will post it.

Agreed - Beta seemed to be OK.
On mine if i got to pen and touch settings there is no tick box to enable it at all.... If I go to 'tablet settings' the AIO screen shows up but nothing happens when you try the config screens and try to touch the screen!
Very frustrating!
I am also facing the same problem but the funny thing is i have tried the Beta version before the launch and all was working fine, even the touch screen. I am just wondering what did Microsoft did the the final version.
You guys at Microsoft any ideas why this is happening?
