Thanks but your answer didn't help. Reading other forums, I discovered it had something to do with how I had Explorer set up.
Import/Export buttons missing from Windows Contacts. How do i get them back?
I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I usually log in as Admin. When I go to Windows Contact, the menu has: Organize, Include in Library, Share with, Burn and New Folder. The Add New Contact, Import and Export buttons are missing. How do I get them back?

Please follow the steps to fix the issue:
a. Right click on and empty area of the right side of the contacts window,

2013-01-06T04:46:55+00:00 I have this problem too. Unfortunately, the Contacts window does not give the "customize this folder" option when I right click. If I try that on a regular folder, I do see that option, but the pull-down does not have Contacts as an option.
I have another computer where the Contacts folder properly has the Import/Export etc. buttons. However, the right click acts the same on that computer as well: no customize option on Contacts, and no Contacts choice on a regular folder.

2012-10-13T08:38:12+00:00 Hi,
Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community.
From your description, I understand that you are unable to add, import and export Windows contacts as the buttons are missing.
If Import/Export buttons is missing, your Contacts folder has apparently switched from it's proper default template.
- Right click on a blank area of the right pane, and select "Customize this folder".
- In the pull-down box select "Contacts" then click ok.
