I have alredy done that but file did not open in notepad.

When I tried to open notepad from "accessories" the following message displays:

    "C:\WINDOWS\system32\notepad.exe

The specified path does not exist.

Check the path and then try again."

Whenever i tried to open any text file the same message displays and my files does not open in notepad.

    What should I do?

    Do you really mean notepad?

This is not removable via "Add or Remove Programs". Nor is it normally removable by deleting the executable because Windows will replace it if you do.

Maybe you have just lost the txt association somehow?

    • Right click one of your text files and rest the mouse on Open With
    • Click Choose Program
    • Select Notepad in Recommended Programs (click it)
    • Tick the box for 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'
    • Click OK

What happens if you repeat the instructions but select Wordpad rather than Notepad to open text (.txt) files?

Are programs other than notepad working OK?

Also, does the file notepad.exe exist in any of these 3 folders...

    • C:\Windows
    • C:\Windows\system32
    • C:\Windows\system32\dllcache

If you find the file in any of the above folders, right click it and then click Properties. What is its size? Then click the Version tab and let us know the version number.

Get your AV up to date and do a full scan.

Can you say if you did anything that might be a contributory factor to this problem?
