    Hi,

From your issue description, I understand that You are getting Error code 39. The drivers for CD rom drive is corrupted**.**Please let me know if you are not facing this issue.

I would suggest you to try the steps from the following link:

Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. I'm seeing "code 19"

after a major problem with itunes yesterday, a message flashed saying the device had corrupted software, would repair, then the download stopped... the  problem was corrupted software on the ipod or itunes, problems so often after updates, sigh......

today, computer does not see cd/dvd drive

    ATAPI  iHAS124 B ATA,

I can't find software drivers for the device and I'm reluctant to download from any site that is not the manufacturer

    MS tells me

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

and that the drivers are up to date....

    I'm an amateur with computers

what is the easiest way to fix this?

    I have win 7 64 bit...

initially the first link (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982116) did not open, msg said it no longer existed, now it opened... will look at that too Fix it says there is no problem...

    thank  you.....
