I get an error, "System BIOS shadowed" on Windows 7.

I have a TOSHIBA, Windowa 7, 64,  and its still covered under warranty. I have had a lot of issues with it (over heating, not starting, replaced mother board, etc). I will be sending it in for the 5th time since i've had it (not even 2 years) and this will be the fourth time just since the end of August 2012! The last time i sent it in, i got a screen stating BIOS Shadowed, and then it would just go to a black screen and would never start up.

Well i just got it back a few days ago, and it was working fine. They re-installed the operating system. I had nearly 200 windows updates to do. It was freezing a little and i had to restart a few times but i just assumed it was from all the updates it was doing. I installed very few programs, including a Virus Protection. Well the last time i re-started my computer so it could finish the updates. Now i am getting the same screen. I work from home and i have been out of work way too much and i really do not want to send it in again. What is happening? Why is this happening? The warranty people have been very pleasant and ships out a box/label right away. However, i am very frustrated because i have had SO many internal issues! I am tempted to demand a refund or a new computer entirely, what do you think? My warranty is about to expire here in a few months and i do not trust my computer in the least bit. This whole BIOS thing has me wondering if its my computer or is it a windows update?

Thank you in advance for any help!

Danielle

    Hi

    Thanks for contacting Microsoft Community.

The process of the contents of the BIOS ROM being copied to the RAM allowing the computer to access that information quicker, is also known as Shadow BIOS ROM, Shadow Memory and Shadow RAM.

    Try this procedure:

    1. Shutdown your PC.
    2. Disconnect all the power source (battery and adaptor).
    3. Now, press the power button for 30 seconds continuously.
    4. Then insert the battery/and or adaptor and start the PC.

If it fails to solve the issue, try updating the BIOS from Toshiba website.

If that to fails to solve the issue, try replacing the coin cell.

Even if that too fails to solve the issue, contact Toshiba support for further assistance.

    Hi MsDanielleC,

Thank you for posting your query in the Microsoft Community Forums.

You have an issue with the computer not functioning properly. It can be difficult when something that is important to you does not work as expected. We will work as a team and get this sorted out.

    Method 1 -

I would have you try booting to the computer using the Installation media (DVD) and perform a System Restore.

    Refer the article-

What are the system recovery options in Windows 7?

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-are-the-system-recovery-options-in-Windows-7

Note: Performing a System Restore will undo any changes made on your computer earlier. You may also lose unsaved information as well. Proceed at your own risk.

If the computer does startup, then I would have you install the last set of updates one at a time.

You also need to install Service Pack 1 on the computer.

    Check if the issue persists.

    Method 2-

I would have you contact Toshiba for further assistance if the issue continues to occur.
