What is the file extension of the video that fails to work properly?

Windows Movie Maker Supported File Types:

These are the ONLY file extensions accepted by Window Movie Maker 2.6:   Audio files: .aif, .aifc, .aiff .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, and .wma  Picture files: .bmp, .dib, .emf, .gif, .jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff, and .wmf  Video files: .asf, .avi, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv

It may be necessary to uncheck "Hide known file types" in Control Panel/ Folder Options/ View, to see file extensions.

Does the failing video play correctly in other programs such as Windows Media Player etc?  Maybe there is a problems with the file itself?

Maybe you are running some third party software that might be causing a problem?

Like other posters have said, you'll have to tell us what program you are using.  What is dividing the two video parts?  Is it a proper screen or window boundary, or just a blank piece of screen?
