Without knowing what it's doing, all I can suggest is turn the laptop off, unplug it from the wall, and pull the battery for a few minutes. Maybe that'll help it regain some sanity :-)

    Hi Tom,

Tried your second suggestion and nothing is checked in this so no luck there :-(

    Hi Ken,

When Im typing nearly every letter brings up the..c,opy,paste, undo box and takes me back up the page. the shift button either deletes or highlights what iv typed as does the space bar and the enter button, the right click on the mouse takes you back a page. very frustrating

It may be that some part of Ease of Access got turned on. Go to Control Panel > Ease of Access (or it may be Accessibility Options in XP), and click on the Keyboard settings. Are any of the categories checked? If so, and if you don't need them, uncheck them all. Plus, look under Sticky Keys Settings and ensure that all the check boxes there are also unchecked.

Please be specific about what you mean by "keys are going nuts."
