C++ Visual Runtime Error: R6025. How to fix this?

So I have been playing Skyrim through Steam since the beginning of this past summer and have had no problems.  Then about a month ago, roughly a week or two before Christmas, I have started getting this error.  I have not downloaded and mods or the like and my computer was running the game fine up until this point.  Now the game is only playable for 5-10 minutes before I receive this message followed by a crash.  This error has occurred outside of the game before, however has not occurred in about 3-4 months, and only appears now while in the game.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like MS Visual C++ has been corrupted somehow.  Skyrim uses C++ 2010.

    • You will find an installer for Visual C++ 2010 located in Steam\ SteamApps\ Common \ Skyrim Folder.
    • Find the folder called VCRedist.

-Run the installer in this folder - vcredist_x86.exe .

-You will get a window asking if you want to Repair or Remove. Choose either.

Repairing should be all that's needed, but if you continue having problems after a repair

run the installer again and choose Remove.

This will uninstall C++ 2010, and when you run the installer the next time you will have a clean install.

Thanks, I tried this and at first it seemed to work but now it just seems to prolong the crash by about 10 mins.  I tried both repairing and re-installing.  Neither have resolved the problem.

This may sound odd, but having looked into this particular matter due to having exactly the same issue since a month now, and alway at the same period of general game progression. "Around the time Dawnguard quests have been started". By various sources scathered across the net and various failed attepts, it seems only two solutions have been confirmed several times over. The one mentioned above, and a very odd one. As followed: A specific quest Within the Soul Cairn "The Dawnguard DLC quests" Where one needs to gather Ten pages scathered across the Soul Cairn. The quest name is "Impatience of a saint". Google provides several steps how to get said pages, or to use a console line. "Setstage DLCVQSaint 200" Once this quest has been completed, the Errors simply, vanish. Simple as that. I know how it sounds, it did not believe it untill I saw the results. Now, keep in mind that BOTH methods have been attempted and BOTH seem to work. I suspect that this is most likely determined per individual, computer specs, skyrim version or other things. I may be pulling out an old bone here, but I figured it may prove valuable enough to be placed here since this issue has been present for a very large number of people, and both answers are scathered on variou locations.

    Greetings and best of wishes,

    Windego.

It might also be the amount of saves that you have. If you have more than 10 or 30 saves, then that tends to mess up things. If you mod, then several saves with previously installed but now removed mods can corrupt your data.

This can easily be fixed by going to: Documents/My Games/Skyrim/Saves  then make a new folder somewhere in your desktop and label it somethinf like "Old Skyrim Saves" if you wish to keep those saves just in case. Afterwards, take all the saves EXCEPT for your most recent one and the autosaves and move them into the folder.

Alternatively, you can delete them if you wish.

    Hope this was helpful!
