If your graphics card drivers were installed via Windows Update change the settings in
Windows Updates to disallow the 'optional' updates.
Graphics card drivers are always best uninstalled via Programs and Features, and reinstalled manually.
NVIDIA Driver Downloads - Advanced Search
When there is a problem it can also help to run Driver Sweeper (an open source program) after uninstalling the drivers and after a re-boot. Driver Sweeper will clean up files left by the normal
uninstall method. Re-boot again before installing the new drivers.
Always use Driver Sweeper with care not to 'clean' the wrong drivers, and only after uninstalling the drivers via Programs and Features.
EDIT: Just noticed Driver Sweeper has gone commercial, but there is still a free version.
The name is also changed - Driver Fusion.
(I just installed Driver Fusion - Don't install the optional speed up your PC app. These programs
are not necessary and can be counterproductive ).
As your card is a few years old, and low end, you should get by without using the most recent driver.
v 295.73 should do, but if you go for a newer driver because you are trying to run a more
recent game stick with the WHQL versions.
