ASUS Laptop - Camera does not work!

Hi everyone,

I don't know why the built-in camera of my laptop does not work any more. My laptop model is ASUS Notebook K52J. It's running on the OS Win7 Pro 64 bit version, 8GB RAM and 1GB Graphic Card. I've  checked the USB port of the imaging device and it is up to date.

Does anybody have the same problem? Could you please help me to fix this?

Thank you for your advice and suggestion

    Hi Melburnianz,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft community!

I am sorry to hear that you have a problem with the Camera that is built in with Asus Laptop. I will try to help you with this issue.

    1. Have you made any changes prior to the issue?
    2. Do you receive any error message/code?
    3. Do you have any software for the inbuilt webcam that came along with the computer?

You may try the steps as below and check if the issue gets fixed.

Method 1: Run the troubleshooter from the link.

Open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows7/Open-the-Hardware-and-Devices-troubleshooter

    Method 2:

Step 1: Let’s uninstall the drivers for the device in the device manager and then reinstall the drivers.

You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.

    1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. In Device Manager, locate the device (Imaging and Camera), and then double-click the device name.
    3. Click the Driver tab, and then click uninstall Driver and follow the instructions.

Step 2: Follow this below link to install the updated drivers.

    http://www.asus.com/Notebooks/Versatile_Performance/K52JC/#download

After installing the driver you need to restart your computer and open the Asus camera software from the Windows start menu and check for the issue.

Also refer: Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly

Please post back if you are still experiencing the issue. I will be glad to provide you with the additional options available that you can utilize to get the issue resolved.

We look forward to hearing back from you.

    Hi everyone,

I have really been confused with my new comp since I got it over a week ago. It's completely new to me. The OS is Win7 Pro 64 bit version, 32GB RAM, 2GB graphics card and 1TB HDD. I divided the 1TB HDD into 2 partitions: 300GB (E) and 700GB (F). I intend to store most of programs/software in E and data will be stored in F. To do so I have to create 2 vhd files, one for E and the other for F and of course, both vhd files are saved in C drive (111GB). But the more data I saved in E or F the bigger the C drive will be, and when data saving process in F reaches around 40GB the C drive is completely full! I look carefully into C drive and it surprises me because the total software which are installed in C is not bigger than 40GBB! At this point I couldn't be able to install any thing else that I must have for my job.

After days of searching around for this problem I realised that there are something called virtual files and virtual disks etc., I am not IT expert to understand all those stuff and don;t know exactly how the new machine works! It makes me really frustrated in finding a way (which I believe there is) to save more data in E & F and install more programs in C.

Could any body help me to:

    1. gain more space in C?
    2. save more data in E&F without losing space in C?

Please guide me clearly in steps to solve this problem. I like this beast cos it is lightening fast but unfortunately, I couldn't use its capacity and advantages effectively.

Thank you for your help and suggestions

    Thank you Abdul,

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers as you recommended in method 2. It's still not working and this time a message pop-up saying this camera is used by another device. So, I go to Start--->ASUS Utility--->SmartLogon--->SmartLogon Consol---> then select the installed camera and disabled the SmartLogon. That's it! Now it works as normal.

    Thank you for your support
