    Hi,

It is a well known Scam used by many.

Microsoft does not contact you, unless YOU have made prior arrangements with them to do so.

There is a section in the link I am supplying you about this at the end of it

    Read this Microsoft Information:

    "Avoid tech support phone scams"

    http://www.microsoft.com/security/online-privacy/avoid-phone-scams.aspx

Do not trust unsolicited calls. Do not provide any personal information.

Here are some of the organizations that cybercriminals claim to be from:

    • Windows Helpdesk
    • Windows Service Center
    • Microsoft Tech Support
    • Microsoft Support
    • Windows Technical Department Support Group
    • Microsoft Research and Development Team (Microsoft R & D Team)

These so-called "Microsoft" Tech Companies either want to sell you worthless software, or gain Remote Access to your Computer to try and steal your Banking and Credit Card details and to also carry out an Indentity Theft on you.

We all have errors and warnings in our event viewer

If you have given them Remote Access and you do Internet Banking, contact your Bank, explain it to them and change Passwords.

If you use your Credit Card online, cancel it and get a new one issued to you.

And the only way that you willl know that you are free of them is to save your Data and do a clean install of your Operating System.

    Cheers.

I too got the call from " Windows support". I spoke to a woman calling from a number from Georgia 678-318-0818.

After pretending to go along with her request to try to gain access to my computer she connected me to her "supervisor" a man. He tried to have me put in all kinds of info, which I didn't. I spent 20 minutes letting him think I

was following his instructions. He asked what number and password the computer gave me and I made up numbers. He was very frustrated. I hung up. When he called back it was from Florida 904-208-0433. I questioned him about it, listened to his lie then told him I knew it was a scam and never followed his instructions. He had the nerve to say " Why did you waste my time?" Ha Ha!

There are APLEMIX apps offered upon Google store.

Don't know if tied in with same scammers. No easy way to inform Google.

Looks like this has only been offered since Feb. 2014.

If anyone knows how to contact some REAL people @ google, please inform them.

    They've called me numerous times.

    ID = "OUT OF AREA"

    NO # SHOWS

    Offering "FREE DOWNLOAD"

They sounded Indian or, perhaps, middle-eastern.

Knew it was a scam from the start, but went along to see what they wanted.

    Pretended to download ( I did NOT ! )

Then HE switched me over to a SHE "technician". ( HUH?!! )

She started talking about windows and I let her in on a SECRET.

    I don't use WINDOWS! ( no offense ) LOL....

Guess that got them off my back, finally and forever.

    Everyone better get savvy.

Only a truly green-horn novice would fall for this.

This is obviously a foreign interest and could become very dangerous.

As long as you never gave then Remote Access, you should be OK.

Next time tell him you have reported them to the Police and then hang up.

    Cheers.

Thanks so much for this info............I didn't give any passwords or allow the person to take control of my computer as I was very doubtful from the beginning......he was quite insistent that I proceed with downloading the software even when I told him that I was going to investigate it first.  Finally I hung up and I couldn't believe he tried to call right back !!!!
