Original Title: There is no Manage Wireless Networks in Windows 8. So, how does one remove or delete a wireless network that has been setup?

Vijay thinks he has solved a customer (re: answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-networking/how-to-delete-a-network/e8be6c6d-e2d9-4a5e-926e-afbfd2d66a7a). Yet, it is not true that the issue was fixed! That Person still has the problem; and, I have the same problem with his solution.

I can follow his instructions up to the point of Step D (re: "d. In the Tasks pane, click Manage wireless networks."). I do not have that option in Network and Internet, Task Pane; and, I am the Owner & Administrator of this PC. Does anyone know how to remove a Wireless Network Setup? This is a new computer; and, so far, I'm not impressed with HP, x64 or Windows 8....

Just type the following into a command prompt window:

    netsh wlan delete profile "*"

this will delete ALL saved WiFi networks you have ever connected to ALL AT ONCE.  It's simple and does take much effort.

As far as editing a Hidden SSID the above line will allow you to start over.

I do agree with the majority though.  It was wrong for Microsoft to remove the Manage Wireless Networks feature.

    Hello,

Manage Wireless networks hidden under Charm bar's View Connection Settings. There would be Manage known networks link. But it doesn't offer edit or show the password of non connected networks, only offers forget network. Hope it helps some.

So why is it that windows 8 does not have a "manage wireless networks" option like windows 7?  I set up home networks at my job and connect to different WiFi networks every day and on my windows 7 machine I found that once I got up to about 50-60 saved profiles I would have trouble connecting to new networks, so it was good to go thru and purge the profiles I knew I would not be using any more.  And there are 5more techs at work who do the same thing. I do not want to have to enter commands in command prompt to erase profiles, or download some 3rd party software to get this done, it seems rediculous that you can only erase profiles when your in range of the network you want to erase.  Is windows going to steadily become dumber and dumber just as Microsoft attempts to turn the most widely used PC OS into a mobile one?

It doesn't exist as in previous versions.  You have 2 other options at least.  I use the second to make my home the default Wifi.

    1. Manually - this lets you delete networks out of range.

Press win+R then type cmd to open Windows 8 CLI.

To see stored wireless profiles, type:

    netsh wlan show profiles

This will show a list of saved profiles of your connected WLAN devices.

    To delete a stored profile:

netsh wlan delete profile "[profile name]"

e.g.  netsh wlan delete profile "starbucks"

    You need the quotes.

    1.  Dowload this.  You can set default Wifi and change order of preference and of course delete unwanted ones as in previous versions of Windows.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting the question on Microsoft Community forums. As per the description, you need help in managing the wireless networks.

If you need to change or delete a wireless connection profile, you can usually do it by right-clicking the network in the network list and choosing a command on the menu that appears.

    Refer:

    Manage wireless network profiles

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/manage-wireless-network-profiles

When you connect to a new Wi‑Fi network, it’s added to the list, and Windows will connect to that network while it’s in range. If you connect to another Wi‑Fi network while in range of the first network, Windows will prefer the second network over the first one.

To delete a profile, you’ll need to open the list of available networks. Locate the network name on the list and right-click or press and hold on it. Click or tap “Forget this network" to delete the profile from your computer.

Hope this information helps. Please reply with the status so that we could help you further.
