"Auto Adjustment in Progress" is a message shown when a monitor is changing resolution.  I would suggest that you make sure that your computer is not trying to connect to a projector.  If you are running Windows 7 or below, go to Control Panel and check the Appearance and Personalization section.  Click on Display.  This section offers information about the resolution of the screen and other display information.  Once again, I would suggest that you make sure that your computer is not trying to connect to an external display.  Also, make sure that all wires connecting your desktop to your monitor are firmly connected, and examine and replace any faulty wires.

    Good Luck!
