Is there a way I can download directx version 7 onto my computer running windows 7? I would like to be able to run an old game called "Battleship: surface thunder" on my computer but it says it needs dx7 and then it says that dx7 isn't compatible with windows 7 when I try to install it. If there is no way to get dx7, is there be a way to make the game run on a newer version of dx?

EDIT: I have gotten it to work now. didnt think to not accept the install dx7 pop up =P thanks for responding

EDITtheEDIT: nevermind, I can now get into the menu but when I launch the game a error pops up "LIB_InitVideo: ERROR 0x88760245 Cooperative Mode Initialization Failed"

See "Compatibility" in windows Help & Support and see if any of those options help.

And no you cannot install DirectX7

The game was released in circa 2000
