extract audio from a WMV file to WAV or AIFF

I have recently recorded a short video and it has picked up the noise of the computer fan. As a result the speech is hard to hear. I have a copy of Audacity to strip this hiss/rumble out, but it advises me to extract the audio out and convert to WAV or AIFF File. Any assistance would be of value.

Regards,

Geo

The following freeware can extract the audio and

convert it to the WAV format.

(FWIW...it's always a good idea to create a System

Restore point before installing software or updates)

    Freemake - Free Audio Converter

    http://www.freemake.com/free_audio_converter/

    (Windows XP / Vista / 7)

(***Carefully read *all* the install screens...there

may be some items you want to uncheck***)

Just drag/drop the WMV file onto the main screen

    of Freemake Audio Converter...choose...WAV at

    the bottom of the screen.

The output screen will open and you can choose a

save location and left click the Convert button.
