original Title:WIFI connection with Win8

Have and HP desktop and an All-in-one computer with windows 8. The all-in-one has a builtin wifi adapter but unable to connect to the gateway. Troublshooting guide says to turn off the "airplane mode", where do I find this in windows 8. Have two other computers running win vista and winxp, both are able to connect to internet. Don't get any error messages, just says unable to connect, Key code and passphrase is correct for router.

I'm seeing that this is widespread problem for people with Windows 7/8.  You know I'm getting so tired of seeing IT experts pointing fingers at the people and saying do this, do that and we've done it all and *gasp* the problem still exists.  Do not the people within Microsoft not realize that it maybe that there is a problem with the new IE 10 and the Windows OS and look at fixing the bug that is causing our computers to crash constantly.

Please Microsoft fix this problem...surely to goodness there is somebody within the organization of programmers that can see what the problem is and put a fix to this instead of IT telling the people that it is our fault.

    Hi ,

Thank you for choosing Windows 8 and we are glad to assist you.

From your description, you are unable to connect to the Wi-Fi network from the Windows 8 computer.

You might be facing the issue due to several reasons like network adapter issues, driver issues, hardware or software issues.

Here is how to find out if airplane mode is on or not.

    a.      Press Windows key+I and select Network.

    b.      Now you will be able to see airplane mode settings.

Note: You will not see an Airplane mode option if you are connected to a wired, Ethernet-based network.

I would suggest you to follow these methods and check.

    Method 1:

I would suggest you to go through the link and follow the steps given. Here is the link for your reference.

    Method 3:

Uninstall the network drivers and install them in Windows 7 compatibility mode.

    Step 1:

Follow these steps to uninstall the network drivers.

    a.     Press Windows key + X key and click on Device manager.

    b.    Search for Network Adapters and expand it.

    c.     Right-click on the network adapterand click on Uninstall.

    Step 2:

Go to manufacturer’s website and download the drivers for Windows 7 as HP does not have drivers for Windows 8 and install them in Windows 7 compatibility mode.

Follow the steps to install the drivers in Compatibility mode:

    a.       Right click the driver installation file and select Properties then tap or click the Compatibility tab.

    b.      Place a check in the Run this program in compatibility mode for box.

    c.       Tap or click the drop down box and select a previous operating system, then tap or click OK.

I resolved my issue by uninstalling my wireless adapter and then recycling my laptop with a shutdown and power up. I tried all the Microsoft suggestions with no avail and this is the only way that I was able to resolve my issue on my home network.
