Your drive maker will have a free bootable disk checking utility
The file or directory c:\$Mft is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility
The file or directory c:$Mft is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility
Windows 7 x64
When Chkdisk is run on bootup, it cancels itself "disk checking cancelled", just like I have hit a key to cancel it, but have actually not touched anything.
I also tried a utility called Check Disk 1.4 64 bit by Dirk Paehl, but this will not run, when the repair errors option is checked, it reports that "program has stopped working" with the following error data.

It will run with the option unchecked, and is detecting errors (as below), but with neither this or Chkdsk working, how can I repair these disk errors please?

2013-01-30T14:56:46+00:00 Have you tried opening a Command prompt with elevated permissions and then running sfc /scannow to see if it can repair anything?
