OP:battlefield3

Hi,

Battlefield3 and windows8, the game ran fine on win7 now on win8 I get this error:

Invalid License. Reason code=Missing DLL (Chinese text) error: 0x000000c1

now after many hours browsing and trying many different fixes still no joy, and EA say that it is a Windows8 issue.

Can you confirm this or other please.

thank you

    :RESOLVED:

I should get a job lol

like a Dog with a bone, here is how I succeeded to get Battlefield 3 working again,

go in to the Directx dir in the BF2 folder: /installer/directx/redist  now extract all the cab files there, so you have all the DLL files sort them by type and copy all the dll files, no I placed them in windows/system32 folder, that did not work, so I tried the windows/sysWOW64 folder, and the game fired up.

this is on windows8, so hope it works for all the people who were in the same boat as me, now I have a big smile on my face, hope you do to.

    Hi Pavan

    thank you for your reply,

yes I have tried, deleting and installing BF3, and Origin, running DirectX again, and punkbuster, all versions of windows in compatibility mode. nothing has come close, no change in error message, still the same.

My son's PC is windows7 and runs Bf3 and Planetside2, with no issues, I cannot with Windows8,

    James.

    Hi James,

Thank you for posting this query Microsoft Community Forum!

From the description, when you try to run the game you get an error message.

I would appreciate if you could answer the question.

    1.      What fixes have you tried?

I would recommend you try troubleshooting:

I would suggest you to check for the compatibility.

    Refer the link:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/win8/CompatCenter/Home

I would suggest you to run the program in compatibility mode:

Follow the steps to run in compatibility mode:

    a) Enter the Start screen

    b) Press Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the Charms bar (If you have a touch screen: Touch the right edge of your screen and slide your finger to the center of the screen to show the Charms bar)

    c) Search for Troubleshooting, Click Settings in the right column.

    d) Click Troubleshooting. Click Run programs made for previous versions of Windows

    e) Click next, select **Not Listed.**Click Next

    f) Click Browse and select the Driver file that you downloaded.

    g) Click next, click Troubleshoot program

    h) Check The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won't install or run now box

    i) Click **next,**select the last known working operating system for this driver (probably Window 7)

    j) Click Next.

Hope this information is helpful. If you need any further assistance, please feel free to reply.
